AI helps organise the funding story; people make the decisions

Fundry uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI to help turn structured opportunity information into a draft funding memorandum for review.

The short version

  • AI drafts content; it does not approve funding.
  • Generated text remains subject to human review.
  • Lenders carry out their own assessment and due diligence.
  • Public website claims are not treated as independently verified facts.
Current use

Drafting lender information memorandums

A memorandum brings together the business background, funding requirement, financial position, security, existing debt and key considerations in a consistent lender-facing format. AI assists with drafting these narrative sections from the available evidence.

01

Assemble information

Fundry combines structured details supplied through the opportunity workflow with permitted public-company context.

02

Generate a draft

Microsoft Azure OpenAI is instructed to produce concise memorandum sections without inventing missing figures or facts.

03

Review and use

The draft can be reviewed and edited by Fundry administrators. Lenders then apply their own judgement to the opportunity.

Information sources

The draft is grounded in identifiable evidence

The quality of an AI-assisted draft depends on the information available. Missing, outdated or inaccurate source data can lead to an incomplete or misleading summary, which is why review remains important.

Submitted opportunity details

Funding purpose, amount, timing, business description, financial figures, assets, personal security, existing debt and supporting-document context.

Companies House information

Public company profile, officer, filing, charge and related corporate information can provide additional context and checks.

Official company website

A limited set of pages from a borrower-provided official website may support descriptions of services, markets and company history.

Controls and limitations

Designed to support careful human use

Source handling

  • Website extracts are treated as untrusted evidence, not as instructions to the AI.
  • Material marketing claims should be attributed to the company rather than presented as independent verification.
  • Source-page details can be retained with the memorandum to support provenance.
  • The AI is told to acknowledge missing information rather than fabricate it.

Human and lender responsibility

  • Generated text may contain errors, omissions or wording that needs correction.
  • Fundry users remain responsible for the accuracy of information they submit.
  • AI does not decide whether an opportunity is suitable or set lending terms.
  • Each lender must complete its own assessment, verification and due diligence.
Identity and access

Information can be shared in stages

Memorandum narratives can be prepared for early lender review without unnecessarily including company names, domains, addresses, company numbers or director names. More identifying information and documents can be released through the platform workflow as a conversation progresses.

Personal information

Data protection still applies

AI processing forms part of Fundry's wider handling of opportunity and personal information. The privacy notice explains the categories involved, purposes, recipients, retention and individual rights.
